Shine Shivan est né en 1981 dans le Kerala. Il vit et travaille dans la région de Delhi. Son travail de sculpteur reconnu en Indegrâce à trois solo show (Makara Gallery Mumbai 2009-2011-2013) a été nominé pour le Skoda Prize, l'équivalent du Prix Marcel Duchamp en Inde.
C'est son œuvre graphique que la galerie Hervé Perdriolle présente pour la première fois au YIA en 2013
avec une série de dessins réalisés avec une épine de cactus, en guise de plume, et du poison (du venin de cobra),
en guise d'encre.
Pour le YIA 2014, Shine Shivan expose sa dernière série de dessins intitulée "Lucifer" (voir photos ci-dessous).
Une série comme une performance, 27 dessins réalisés en une seule journée.
Cette première journée inaugure de nombreux autres jours de labeur, de création éruptive. La série "Lucifer" comporte à ce jour 475 dessins.
Shine Shivan, qui se définit comme sculpteur, a une passion totale pour les matériaux dans leur infini diversité.
Le choix d'un matériaux induit tout autant une aventure personnelle que formelle. Aussi, l'œuvre de Shine Shivan est hétéroclite.
Seul trait d'union dans une production artistique à l'apparence hétérogène, la dualité, souvent celle du genre : masculin et féminin.

Biography Shine Shivan was born in 1981 in Kerala, India. He has a Masters in Visual Arts from Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar University, Agra, India, and a Bachelor in Fine Arts from the College of Arts, Delhi. He has previously shown at Khoj Studios, Delhi, India and was the recipient of a Lalit Kala Academy Scholarship in 2008. Shine debuted with a solo show, Sperm Weaver, at Gallery Maskara, Mumbai, India in 2009. His video work was shown at Move on Asia 2010, Tate Modern, London, UK following the success of Move on Asia 2010, at Gallery Loop, Seoul, Korea. In November 2010 his work was part of an exhibition at MOCA Taipei, in Taipei, Taiwan. Shine Shivan was one of the artists shortlisted for the SKODA Prize Twenty 2010. In 2011, Shivan’s had a second solo Suck Spit at Gallery Maskara, Mumbai, India. He showed at the India Art Summit 2011, Crossroads: India Escalate at Prague Biennale 5 and (M)other India, Galerie du Jour – Agnès B, Paris, France. In 2012, Shivan participated in group exhibitions at the India Art Fair, New Delhi and the VIP Art Fair (online) as well as How Am I? at the Kastrupgårdsamlingen museum in Copenhagen and The Secret Life of Plants curated by Maya Kovskaya at Exhibit 320 in Delhi. Glimpse of Thirst, Shivan’s third solo show at Gallery Maskara opened in January 2013 at Gallery Maskara followed by a solo presentation at Art Brussels in April of the same year. Hervé Perdriolle has shown Shine Shivan at the YIA Art Fair Paris in 2013 and 2014, at the Drawing Now Art Fair Paris in 2014, at the Outsider Art Fair New York in 2014 and currently exhibiting until 14 November 2014 at the Maison Guerlain 68 Champs Elysées Paris. The artist lives and works in Faridabad, India.
